Actor and professor of film and theater, Clarence Gillard Jr., known for roles in TV series such as Matlock And the Walker Texas Rangeras well as his film roles in successful films such as Better And the Die hard, at the age of 66. Heather Addison, UNLV Film President, adds, “Professor Gillard has been a beacon of light and strength to everyone around him at UNLV. Whenever we asked him how he was doing, he would cheerfully announce that he was “Blessed!” But we are truly blessed to be his colleagues and students for so many years. We love you and will miss you very much, Professor G!”

Gilliard earned a BA in Dramatic Arts from California State University and then completed a Masters in Theater Performance at Southern Methodist University after completing a BA. Walker Texas Ranger. After that, Gillard took a leave of absence from acting to become a professor of film and theater.
