Paramore releases new single "Al-Akhbar" with a horror-inspired video

As I promised, Paramore They are now sharing the second song from Upcoming this is the reason album, a new track titled "News".

As you may gather from the song title, Hayley Williams She takes a more worldly approach with the lyrics addressing the current state of the world within her vocal style. She begins by singing a war on the far side of the planet, then the motif of "war" turns to describe the inner turmoil she's experiencing behind her eyes just like a headache and finally makes the plea to stop the news. are belts,"Close your eyes but it won't go away/on/off/the news.”

"The News" is one of those songs that came together really quickly and had a buzz right from the start. Williams says it feels like a happy medium between classic Paramore angst and bringing in some influences that we'd always tapped but never really tapped into. Lyrically, it is perhaps self-explanatory. It is impossible to understand the 24 hour news cycle. I feel a pang of guilt when I unplug to protect my headspace. A common reaction, or lack thereof, seems to be to break up. None of us are innocent of this, and who can blame us? "

Paramore, "News" lyrics (per Genius.com)

War, war, war on the far side
On the other side of the planet
And I have war, war, war behind my eyes
Behind them just like a headache

So you turned on the news
Turn off the news

Every second, our collective hearts are breaking
All together, every head is shaking
Close your eyes, but it won't go away
Turn on, turn off the news
Every second, our collective hearts are breaking
All together, every head is shaking
Close your eyes, but it won't go away
Turn on, turn off the news

I'm too far, too far from the front line
Quite the contrary, I am safe on the inside
But I worry and give money and feel useless behind this computer
This barely scratched the surface of my mind

So you turned on the news
Turn off the news
Run the news
Turn off the news

Every second, our collective hearts are breaking
All together, every head is shaking
Close your eyes, but it won't go away
Turn on, turn off the news
Every second, our collective hearts are breaking
All together, every head is shaking
Close your eyes, but it won't go away
Turn on, turn off the news

exploitation, performance
Media and we do not know half of it
It's repairable, a pity
Exorable, and on our own, we called it normal
exploitation, performance
Media and we do not know half of it
Restorable, unfortunate
Exorable, and on our own, we called it normal
All on our own, we called it natural

Every second, our collective hearts are breaking
All together, every head is shaking
Close your eyes, but it won't go away
Turn on, turn off the news
Every second, our collective hearts are breaking
All together, every head is shaking
Close your eyes, but it won't go away
Turn on, turn off the news

The song itself is more upbeat and upbeat rock in the verses, but steps back to deliver a more hypnotic, swirling sound in the chorus, nonetheless. Part teased earlier this month when Williams sent the song to a fan of the band prior to its release. Track is available over here.

The song comes with a new video directed by Mike Kluge and Matthew DeLesse. In the video, which is seen below, Hayley Williams appears as someone who is overwhelmed by constant TV watching and screen time, wearing a "Turn Off" sweatshirt at various points while feeding her alter ego about her viewing habits. You can watch the clip below.

The news "followed in the wake"this is the reason,” the title track of the new album released earlier this year. The album itself is due out on February 10th and you can currently pre-order the album at this site.
