"The News" is one of those songs that came together really quickly and had a buzz right from the start. Williams says it feels like a happy medium between classic Paramore angst and bringing in some influences that we'd always tapped but never really tapped into. Lyrically, it is perhaps self-explanatory. It is impossible to understand the 24 hour news cycle. I feel a pang of guilt when I unplug to protect my headspace. The song itself is more upbeat and upbeat rock in the verses, but steps back to deliver a more hypnotic, swirling sound in the chorus, nonetheless. Part teased earlier this month when Williams sent the song to a fan of the band prior to its release. Track is available over here.

In the video, which is seen below, Hayley Williams appears as someone who is overwhelmed by constant TV watching and screen time, wearing a "Turn Off" sweatshirt at various points while feeding her alter ego about her viewing habits.
