in prospect symbol picture sequel, Lang will play a "recom" version of himself, which stands for recombinant. Essentially, according to Lang, his characters' intellect, feelings, and possibly Quaritch's soul were downloaded into an independent character.

"It's a genetically independent avatar," Lang said. "He's downloaded with reason, emotions, and most interestingly, perhaps the spirit of Quaritch. Now, these are all pretty esoteric things. He comes with a full memory bank up until the time he actually undergoes a DNA transfer. So there are certain things he doesn't remember at all." He does not remember his death.”

While Lang's Quaritch may now exist inside an avatar, that doesn't mean he'll be kinder or more receptive to people who get in his way.

"It's fair to say that, but I think it's incomplete," Lang said when asked if he was still the same old Quaritch. “If you think about it, in the original movie, Quaritch was really a job. It was a colorful job — a job full of personality, but he was really there to provide conflict. Now, he still has that job, but I also think, just because of the depths of what Jim explores here "It's a little more than that. We're seeing parts of him that we haven't seen before. It only makes sense because we don't want to massage the same area over and over again. We need to go to new places and he really does."
