The 40 most played songs on Rock Radio in 2022

It was a big year for rock radio and all the artists who made it through.

Despite the growing popularity of streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music, radio is still widely consumed in the United States. Nislin He confirmed that the radio still reached 93 percent of the United States [via Radio Ink]. The percentage is even higher than for streaming platforms in the 18-34 demographic, with radio at 87 percent and Spotify at 41 percent. The rest of the streaming services were even less so.

Three Days Grace, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Shine Down, Five Fingers of Death, Annoying, Papa Roach, Dorothy, Ghost and Volbeat are among the artists that made the most played list, so congratulations to these artists on a great year.

The list we compiled of the 40 most played songs on rock radio throughout 2022 was based on data from Media Base. They are ranked based on the total number of plays they received from January to December of this year. A few of the songs were actually released in 2021 but were a big hit this year, so we made a note of any of these songs that were actually released before January in the description of the album or single art.
