Yoshiki from Japanese group X forms a new supergroup, The Last Rockstars


Another rock star is here. As revealed this week, X Japan squad leader Yoshiki Formed a new giant band with three other major players from the rock scene in Japan.

In fact, they are called The Last Rockstars. In addition to Yoshiki, the group also includes Hyde (Lark in Cell, Vamps), Sugizu (Luna C) and guitarist Miyavi.

A pair of singles from The Last Rockstars, "Psycho Love" and "The Last Rockstars," are teased in a video this week (November 11), where chat mentioned.

The Last Rockstars will begin on stage with world tour dates starting in 2023.

From a press release:

YOSHIKI has had many huge achievements under his belt as the leader of X JAPAN and as an accomplished solo artist. He was named "One of the Most Influential Musicians and Composers in Japanese History" by Consequence of Sound and has composed soundtracks for Hollywood films, a concerto for the Emperor of Japan, and the official song for the Golden Globe Awards. He has performed in the greatest theaters in the world including Madison Square Garden, Wembley Arena, Coachella Music Festival and Carnegie Hall. In addition to his music, Yoshiki has been honored internationally for his charitable work, and has been awarded the Medal of Honor by the Japanese government.

HYDE is internationally recognized as a vocalist for L'arc-en-Ciel and VAMPS and as a successful solo artist. L'Arc-en-Ciel has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide, under the title Madison Square Garden, and was also the first rock band to top Japan's National Stadium. HYDE has also had great success doing international tours as a solo artist.

SUGIZO has worked and performed globally as a member of LUNA SEA, X JAPAN and JUNO REACTOR in the UK, a group credited with creating a psychedelic trance. As a solo artist, he has been pursuing his unique style of electronic music while creating multiple soundtracks for film and theater.

Miyafi "samurai bassist" has dazzled the world with his unconventional "slapping style" of playing his guitar, which has taken him around the world 9 times to tour over 30 countries. In 2014 he made his debut as a Hollywood actor in Unbroken. He was the first Japanese public figure to appear in GUCCI's global campaign, and was appointed Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, to provide support to refugees.
