Jennifer Lopez really gave Zane Louie a go Interview tell all On Apple Music 1 - at least when it comes to everything he's been through with her and Ben Affleck's romance. The singer moved on to talk about his twentieth anniversary This is me...then about the first move in their relationship that ended in the "biggest heartbreak" of Lopez's life and upcoming album this is me nowwhich will Focus on finding each other again and reconciling after decades.
"Once we called off that wedding 20 years ago, it was the biggest heartbreak of my life," she recalls. Their decision in September 2003 not to go through with the ceremonyWhich they announced one day before the wedding date. They finally broke up in January 2004 before Good luck in Spring 2021. Because they arrived Married / Married this summer.
“I honestly felt I was going to die,” she said of her love life. “It sent me down a spiral for the next 18 years as I couldn't get her right.” "But now, 20 years later, it has a happy ending. It has more than one ending that's never going to happen in Hollywood. It's never going to happen. We're not going to write that because nobody thinks it's going to end. It's funny because when Ben and I got back together, it was like, ' The songs were never performed [from This Is Me...Then]. You never did "I am happy". You have never done this. You never did. I was like, 'You're right. It hurt.' It was a part of me and then I had to let it go to move on and survive. It was definitely a survival tactic."
She also album This is me...then is a reflection "of a little girl in love, hopelessly, smitten in love with the person you want to be with forever, the kind of love you can't hide. You're just like, 'This is how I feel.' That's who I am. I love this." The person. I love him with all my heart and soul. It was mutual.”
Lopez touched a lot in the interview, which you can listen to in full below, and read on for the highlights:

On Lopez and Affleck slowly falling in love for the first time:
"I think what happened is we worked together [on Gigli]We became good friends. We realized that we are crazy about each other. I kind of found myself thinking about him after the movie was over. And I had to take care of my own business, because I was out of a relationship at the time [Lopez's marriage to Cris Judd]. But it's like you just knew him. It's like, "This is the person I want to be with." This happened over a period of months. It wasn't an immediate thing because we weren't allowed to do that. Yeah, it kind of has grown over time.”
She and Affleck decide to get back together in the spring of 2021:
"I think now that we're older, we realize it's a lot clearer, because... when we felt that way, we know now. Now we know. And no questions and no kind of like, 'Okay, let's see how it goes.'" Like, “Nope, me and you.” This is it. All the way to the end. This is it. It will be us."
She added that even though they knew right away that the love was still there, they were still wary about getting back into things because of their children. “We had our kids and we had to move lightly and carefully so they could come with us… because they hadn’t lived those years before. And they’re like, ‘Wow, they’ve known each other forever.’ And that’s it. We’ve known each other forever, And we had to live these separate paths and do other beautiful things and have these wonderful children. But when we came back together and the universe and God, and as it will be...once we have enough and we are complete enough and we love ourselves enough and we can stand on our own two feet Just really, as the universe would have it, we were brought into each other's lives again. And it was a crack in the clouds and that song came and it was like, 'Boom, that's it.' And we were pretty sure."
on both letters This is me...then And the this is me now And Affleck reacted lyrically to what she shared about them
"[On This Is Me...Now]I was captivated by the moment when I was reunited with the love of my life and we decided we were going to be together forever. The whole message of the album is that this love is out there. This is true love. I think now what's the album's message pretty much if you're wondering if you've given up hope at times, almost given up, or just don't. Because true love exists and some things last forever and this is true. I want to spread this message to the world and it takes a lot of vulnerability. But I couldn't stop myself and some parts of it scare me. And I think parts of it scare Ben, too. It's like, "Oh, do you really want to say all this stuff?" And I'm like, "I don't know how to do it, baby."
She continued, "I went into it with the attitude that I was going to capture this moment in time." "I'm different than I was 18 or 20 years ago. I'm different than I was 20 years ago. I've grown up. I've learned things. I've been through some shit. I've been through some tough times. I've been through a divorce. I've been in many different difficult relationships." Sometimes and the special things that happened. But it got me to this place and it was about, let's capture who I am now, here today, and what I've been through. I mean, we have songs out there that talk about what this life is like for me. Whereas the Jenny From song the Block was me going so I'm still Jenny from the block I know I'm famous now and all that but I'm still Jenny from the block now I'm talking about it [how] My life isn't all hearts and flowers as you thought it might be. Let me tell you a little bit about what it was like.”
On public support for her and Affleck getting back together after toxic tabloid coverage during their first date:
"It's funny, when we first met, there was a huge kind of like, 'Oh my God, they're back together. We love it.'" And we were both like...Really? Awesome. Well, we really loved it. But she really... There was a real love for her. By the way, it was stressful for us too and for everyone. And I understand her."
"Because happy endings do exist, and we need them," Lowe added. "And it's nice to know they're not just in the movies. I give-"
"No, you can get a second chance, if you do the work," Lopez said, later adding, "If you do the work, and you don't give up, you can get there. This is somewhere amazing and beautiful and blessed. And that's how I feel. And because of that... I mean, as an artist, that's the only reason I'm here, is to share what I know and what I'm learning and what I'm going through. And when I can do that in the most honest way, I think that's when I make my own goal."
