Well, Schmoes, as 2022 finally draws to a close, we're thinking about a year like no other in our lives. We're finally back to a pretty normal theatrical schedule from the studios, but there's still plenty to offer for streaming as well. If one thing is for sure, there are always movies that are overrated and underrated by critics and fans alike. As the unpopular opinion man, I felt it only appropriate to release the list of movies I felt audiences missed. Some of them might shock you, some of them might just upset you, but this is my honest-to-quality view of the 2022 movies. If you don't agree with any of the options, please express your opinion in the comments below. After all, the only opinion that really matters is yours, and I'm just here to share mine.
5. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
As much as I love Marvel Studios, I wasn't impressed with it Black Panther Movies. Yes, the original movie had some interesting moments, but overall it was Chadwick Boseman who helped elevate the movie to become a blockbuster hit. When Boseman died, I wasn't sure if killing off T'Challa was the right move. This sequel, which puts Shuri in the role of Black Panther, feels more like a lengthy epitaph for Boseman rather than a movie of its own. While I loved the reinvention of Namor, the entire production felt flat and hardly a rehash of the original movie. The MCU is far from suffering financially, but if their films continue to be disappointing, they will be in trouble sooner rather than later.

4. X / Perl
Ti West is a talented filmmaker who deserves the spotlight X and Pearl have brought along his way. Mia Goth is equally talented and her moment to shine is well deserved. But both West and Goth deserve kudos for their work before this pair of horror films. Both films play with the conventions of thugs and slasher films and pay homage to countless 20th-century films. Both films feature an excellent performance by Mia Goth, who has more than her own offering. The problem is that outside of Goth, the rest of the story and characters are pretty weak. If this franchise plans to continue, West and Goth will have to build a stronger narrative instead of a more creative death to get me to buy.

3. The Barbarian
The trailer for this movie had me hooked. I liked that there weren't any details about what the story was about. When I finally saw the movie, it kept me glued to the screen, trying to figure out what would happen next. While hungry I went in without any prior knowledge of what was in store, it was still incredibly disappointing. Instead of true horror, this movie relies on destruction and shock value to make the viewer feel queasy. In a year of horror films that have been hailed as revolutionary and original, this is a decent movie oversized.

2. Nope
Jordan Peele has been an absolutely brilliant director since his inception. Peele, who deserves the acclaim bestowed upon him, has given us a strong following candy man and a not-so-highly regarded revival Twilight Zone. Compared to the two films he made before that, Bale has somehow allowed himself to become an overeating eater. without someone to bring it back again, No He tries too hard to do a lot of things and ends up feeling all over the place. Like three different movies bundled together, No It never feels like a coherent story, but it is one that was written as it went. There are items I like, but I don't like them any more.

1. Top Gun: Maverick
To be fair, I didn't like the original Top Gun either. While Joseph Kosinski's flight sequence blows a Tony Scott movie out of the water, this one is already in danger from the frequent use of the famous Kenny Loggins song. The characters here are all exact replicas of the original movie, but much more diverse. The nostalgia factor has been moved forward, especially with Miles Teller appearing to be dressed as Anthony Edwards. Fully buoyed by Tom Cruise's smile and the legacy of the original, the film chugs through to an action-packed climax that feels like it was straight out of a different movie entirely. There is a lot to like about it Top Gun: Maverick, But I've never seen a film less worthy of the criticism and awards this one has.
