Why is this cool: night hawks should not be be great. The entire production process seems like a nightmare, and given the speed at which it was cut and re-cut, it must have been choppy as hell. However, even if hacked, it works fairly well, thanks to a plot that may have seemed far-fetched at the time but is now very realistic (urban domestic terrorism). It is worth noting that Stallone's performance is one of his best. I love foxy, but pre-ROCKY III/FIRST BLOOD's foxy is a different beast. At the time, many saw him as a Brando-like style actor rather than an action hero, and as such the movie is more of a thriller than a flick.

The story and DeSilva's horror of Wulfgar's actions come in the lead - notably Sly kills only one person in the movie - Wulgar himself. This is the journey to this end night hawks Persuasive, as he is troubled by the idea that, as a policeman, he should be expected to coldly execute anyone. His disparagement of Wolfgar's sadism is what the plot hinges on with Hauer's villainous villain, stronger and smarter than de Silva could have hoped he would be. But, if he is going to protect and serve, DeSilva must thwart him. The good versus evil tango is compelling, and oddly enough, the re-editing that kept Williams and Wagner away may have actually helped the film, making it so much more about Stallone vs Hauer, and a duo format.
It's worth noting that Hauer is at the height of his abilities here, with Wulfgar's magnetism throughout. No wonder he started getting so many offers in the aftermath, with Blade Runner after next year. The movie also has a great, sloppy, pre-Giuliani NYC vibe, and I'm not sure who should take credit, Nelson, Malmouth or Sly himself. It feels unsettling in the late '70s, early '80s, with accomplished actors like Joe Spinel in the cast, and the unconventional prog-rock score of Keith Emerson from Emerson, Lake & Palmer. There is nothing quite like it night hawksAnd even though it's old, that's part of its charm.
Best scenes: Did you see Stallone in tow? Watch night hawks And you'll get your chance, as his custom of wearing booby-traps is a rather special touch, especially given his Serpico-Beard style shakes all the time.

look at him: The best way to see night hawks Undoubtedly by the Blu-ray re-release of Shout Factory recently. All previous DVD releases were missing tracks (such as Rolling Stone's "Brown Sugar") and generally sounded like an ass. The Shout Factor did a great job restoring the movie to HD on Blu-ray which is the only way to go.
Interval shot: night hawks It's something that is bound to surprise even some of its most devoted fans. He falls into a little-scrutinized period in his career when he was struggling to find a foothold at the box office and Hollywood hadn't quite figured out what to do with him just yet. If you haven't heard of it before, try it out. I think you will love it.
