horror story animal — stars Amandla Stenberg Bodies Bodies Bodies (Read our review for that over here) and Bobby Salvor Menuez nocturnal animals (which we reviewed in this link) — will debut at the Sundance Film Festival next month, but before audiences had a chance to see it, Paramount Worldwide Acquisition Group had already swooped in and secured worldwide distribution rights to the film. (except for Canada).
The directorial debut of Jacqueline Castel, who was working from a screenplay by debut feature writer Jay Matthews, animal It is set in a small northern town and tells a story Heather, an outcast teenage hockey goalie (Menoise), who falls for a newcomer to town (Stenberg), an attractive but tormented figure skater. As their relationship deepens, Heather's growing desires come into conflict with her own darker secrets, forcing her to control the animal within.
Could this be a werewolf story? I guess we'll have to wait until the Sundance show to find out for sure.
Hollywood Reporter The news broke about Paramount's distribution deal, but Paramount hasn't revealed any release details yet. Castel provided the following statement:Bobbi and Amandla were my first choices when we started casting animal Their double-commitment synchronization is the kind of magical matching rarity the director always dreamed of. Finding our home at Paramount has completed the circuit, and their trust and support has been very meaningful."

Screenwriter Jay Matthews also happens to be one half of the electronic music band Boy Harsher, who recently had songs on horror movie soundtracks. Terrifying 2 And the The end of Halloween. So there's probably a good chance a Boy Harsher theme song or two could end up on this movie's soundtrack, too.
