lato She received the highest honor in her hometown of Clayton County, Georgia - just south of Atlanta - receiving a key to Rex's city and era.
The 23-year-old, who hails from nearby Riverdale, Ga., has declared December 18 "Latto Day" in recognition of her many charitable initiatives at Clayco. Former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacy Abrams was on hand to present Lato's honor during her second annual Clayco Christmas Ball, People reports.
“Lato is the epitome of greatness here in Clayton County,” Clayton County Commissioner Alika Anderson said at the event. “Our kids love it, the commissioners love it, and this is a collaboration that has been great for the community and for the kids in the Clayton County Public Schools.
"I want them to see the spirit of giving," she added. When you give, she reciprocates you. What we say to our kids in Clayton County is that you can be anything you want to be, and Lato is a great example of that."
On Monday, Lato took to Twitter to celebrate the momentous occasion, joking about the positive attention she was getting from the press because of it.
"Oh my gosh, because you've been screwing me all year long..lol," she wrote, retweeting a fan account about the media coverage. "I needed this love from my hometown yesterday [heart emoji] I have gone to do it BIG for CLAYCO EVERY TIME!! [key emoji] They didn't go after this hoooo"

The Christmas In Clayco gift saw 500 families receive provisions for Christmas dinner, gifts, as well as essential items, to the tune of $250,000. The event is organized by the Win Some Give Some Foundation, which was established in 2021 to empower at-risk youth and provide them with resources and “self-esteem support to achieve a life of equal opportunity and success.”
