Low Carb Smoothie Recipes for Endless Energy in 2023

To top it all off, I combed the internet for the best low-carb smoothie recipes I could find. In the past, my favorite smoothies were all based on bananas for their deliciously creamy texture. However, after spending some time thinking more deeply about how certain foods make me feel, I've realized that my daily habit of eating bananas is responsible for my mid-morning slump. Instead, the recipes below rely on ingredients like nut butter, avocado, and even cauliflower (believe it!) to give you a smoothie you'll be craving every morning.

butt...because we all agree that bananas are not an inherently bad thing (There is no fruit or food!), I couldn't help myself and wanted to include a few recipes that make the most of their creamy, nutrient-packed powers. Because in 2023 and beyond, I've decided to let the rules slide.

Ready to get to the recipes? Let the smoothies below inspire your mid-morning routine for the next 12 months and beyond.

Have a veggie smoothie with it

Why we love it: This might just be my favorite smoothie Ever. That's right, we're kicking off this Tour (and 2023) with a bang. If you're wondering where figs fit into your morning meal, get ready for a surprise. The fruit blends with plenty of fiber and natural sweetness to make a smoothie you'll be craving from now until spring — and maybe beyond. The best part? This smoothie is a sure fire medium Blood sugar balance.

Main ingredient: I'm a big advocate of figs—and this smoothie is the best way to join in.

Pineapple juice and tropical ginger

Why we love it: If you've been dreaming of a tropical vacation, this juice will instantly transport you. It's sweet, tart, and slightly tart, hitting on all the flavors you could crave for breakfast. Bonus: It's nut-free, dairy-free, vegan, and packed with fiber.

Main ingredient: This super smoothie hides a little bit of avocado that your taste buds will never discover - but your body will be glad to have.

Strawberry and cream smoothie

Why we love it: Strawberries and cream is a beautiful party-ready food combo. The strawberry's slight acidity is held back by its thick, rich creamy flavour. But don't worry - that's just it tastes rich. With vanilla protein powder, ground flax, coconut milk, and vanilla extract, this is an acceptable option for breakfast versus dessert.

Main ingredient: strawberry fields forever

Pumpkin spice juice

Why we love it: I'll be honest: There was a three-week stretch this fall when I've been drinking this smoothie every morning (weekends included). And if you're wondering if the flavor of the season can last into the early months of the year, I'm here to confirm: Absolutely. Pumpkin spice, while we cut it back into the fall months (and in Starbucks' case, sometimes as early as August), gives a warm, earthy bite to any food that instantly comforts you. And if that's the only thing I crave this January 1st, it's some kind of healthy break.

Main ingredient: Two teaspoons of your favorite nut butter keeps this smoothie from tasting like a Thanksgiving treat.

Smoothie cookies and cream

Why we love it: Of course I want my breakfast to taste just like my favorite cookie. Everyone's favorite celebrity nutritionist, Kelly LeVeque, developed this recipe based on her signature Fab Four Smoothie framework. It contains everything you need to keep your blood sugar balanced and keep you energized throughout the morning. Oh, and you know, this smoothie is Jennifer Garner-approved.

Main ingredient: Literally every ingredient in this smoothie can be considered a key ingredient. But the real standout? Collagen protein powder. Not only does it deliver a healthy dose of clear (skin-supportive) collagen, but opting for a chocolate-flavored powder will make you think you're downing a load of Oreos first thing in the morning.

Green Almond Butter Smoothie

Why we love it: Green smoothies, and all kinds of smoothies really, couldn't get much easier than with this recipe. Just six simple ingredients combine to create a vibrant smoothie you can feel good about sipping all morning, every morning. Bananas and frozen broccoli combine to create a drinkable meal that rivals the consistency of your favorite milkshake. And what about flavour? like decadence. If it wasn't for the color, you wouldn't be able to guess that it contains an entire cup of spinach.

Main ingredient: A squeeze of honey creates the perfect balance of sweetness.

Tropical Turmeric Juice

Why we love it: Talk about a great reason to wake up. Good news: This nutrient-packed smoothie is just as delicious as it gets. Functional herbs like turmeric and ginger combine to soothe any digestive stress — because I don't know about you, but I'm saying goodbye to bloating in 2023.

Main ingredient: Ground flaxseed is a superfood that's worth all the hype you're getting. Not only does it give your smoothie a thicker texture, but it also amps up your breakfast with plenty of digestive-supporting and filling fiber.

Matcha Planet Power Juice

Why we love it: This juice contains all the benefits of green. Hemp seeds provide healthy fats, a cup of spinach provides calcium, manganese, and vitamin K, and matcha has all the good antioxidants. If you want to start every morning of 2023 energized and ready to take on the day, go with this smoothie.

Main ingredient: Vanilla protein powder not only provides an abundance of muscle-building macronutrients. If you choose the right, clean brand, you might just be getting probiotics, L-glutamine, and plenty of superfoods, too. Shop our favourites here And the here.

Coconut Blackberry Smoothie from Cooking LSL

Why we love it: I have one word for you: yum. In an effort to keep the sugar down, some smoothies can be watery and… light. This smoothie relies on the dynamic duo of avocado and coconut milk for an extra-creamy texture and fills you up with plenty of healthy fats.

Main ingredient: A teaspoon of chia seeds takes that juice from the cream into I eat ice cream? thickness levels.

Pineapple and green avocado smoothie from Eat the Gains

Why we love it: I'm not going to lie, I used to steer clear of any smoothie (or sweet recipe, for that matter) that touted as "avocado" in the name. Personally, I'm a fan of avocado toast, I've always associated it with poached eggs and crusty bread. Well, the good news is that you don't taste it at all in this recipe. The best news? It's more responsible for this creamy smoothie than its creamy texture.

Main ingredient: Avocado wins again. Avocados are full of monounsaturated fats (good for lowering cholesterol) and skin and eye-preserving compounds, and avocado is the real best product for this recipe.

Chocolate and almond butter smoothie from Kelly Levick

Why we love it: I'll bring that back to you for a second: chocolate. almonds. ghee. crush. If you're not drooling yet, I don't know what to tell you. It's pretty decadent, will satisfy any sweet tooth (even me), and is bound to be a favorite everywhere.

Main ingredient: I bet you didn't think this smoothie would pack an entire handful of spinach. Well, get ready to hit the ground running—and say hello to your new favorite way to get green.

Blueberry and broccoli smoothie from Gwyneth Paltrow

Why we love it: Glow ticket as GP? This juice. It's exactly what I want after a workout to provide my body with plenty of muscle-building protein. Frozen blueberries not only give this smoothie its gorgeous color (seriously, so pretty!) but a half-cup serving of berries packs a ton of skin-protecting antioxidants.

Main ingredient: cauliflower? in my juice? You better believe it. Cruciferous vegetables give your smoothie the creamy texture we all crave without having to add a high-carb banana to your blender.

Strawberry smoothie from Big Man's World

Why we love it: This strawberry smoothie makes great use of its three ingredients. Mix in any milk replacement you like, fresh or frozen strawberries, and keto-friendly condensed milk. You can add your favorite protein powder for an extra boost of muscle-building macronutrients or ice if you like to take your smoothie by the spoonful.

Main ingredient: Keto Condensed Milk gives you a very thick and creamy smoothie. If you want to replace it with another ingredient, you can get the same texture using Greek yogurt.

Carrot cake smoothie from roasted roots

Why we love it: Carrot cake will forever be a ride-or-die dessert. I love all the fresh flavors included in every bite. It's spicy, it's sweet, and carrots always make me feel justified getting up for a second slice. This smoothie is the healthy variety that's still packed with all the flavor of creamy carrot cake. Have your cake, and eat it too.

Main ingredient: When I make my morning smoothie, I usually lighten things up with a cup of almond milk. But the rich, creamy coconut milk that gives me this smoothie convinces me to switch things up.

Keto Peanut Butter Smoothie from Sweet As Honey

Why we love it: I've said it before and I'll say it again: nothing beats peanut butter. Nut butters go well with just about anything and contain all the healthy fats and proteins. And despite its delicious taste, sipping on this smoothie won't set you back on your New Year's intentions. It is surprisingly light and provides you with everything a productive morning needs.

Main ingredient: A tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder gives this smoothie the chocolate and PB mix I want at all times of the day. For an antioxidant boost, substitute cocoa.
