Colin Farrell Excited for HBO's The Penguin Series, 'I Wanted More'


Not much is known about the future penguin series starring Colin Farrell, but in a recent interview, the actor opened up about how it came to be Batman It was just the beginning of the character.

During a recent appearance at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, Farrell spoke with Variety and revealed how the series ended up together. According to Farrell, he had no idea the character would be getting a series when he joined forces with Matt Reeves Batmanbut he wanted to explore more on the spot.

"One thing I had a clue was that I wasn't about to explore the character as much as I wanted to," Farrell said. "Because there was all this extraordinary work that he did [makeup artists] Mike Marino and Mike Fontaine and his team, and I just thought it was the tip of the iceberg, pardon the pun, that we were up to six or seven scenes like we did in the movie. I was grateful to them, but I wanted more.

Farrell went on to say that he then spoke with producer Dylan Clark about possibly exploring the character more, but what made him want to do that was how much he sounded like Oswald Cobblepot.

"Honest to God, any idea I had about an extended series was related to it [makeup artist] Mike Marino's work. "I just knew there was a lot to do with him — get old, get younger," Farrell said. "He's just a genius, Mike, so his work was really the inspiration."

"penguin Will be seated immediately after the end Batman and chronologically prior to the events of the second film. The show will direct between the two films. Now then, it's fun for audiences to know it's going to be a bridge between the two, but the actual release date, I'm not at liberty to say," HBO Max Head of Originals Sarah Aubrey recently revealed.

The limited drama will be based on the DC characters created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. It is being written by Lauren LeFranc, who is also set to host the show. Episodes one and two were directed by Craig Zobel.

Next penguin Series will be executive produced by BatmanDylan Clark, Matt Reeves, Pharrell, LeFranc, Daniel Pepski, Adam Kassan and Raffi Kron. It is a joint venture between 6th Idaho, DC Entertainment, Dylan Clark Productions, and Warner Bros. Pictures. the television.
