The horror movie we're watching this week is director Josh Stifter Graywood plot... which you may have seen us share before, but what horror show hasn't been reruns in quite some time? Presented in black and white, this 2022 release looks — and for most of its runtime — like the kind of indie film we would have had in the late 1990s or early 2000s, in the immediate aftermath of the success of films like clerks And the The Blair Witch Project. Luckily, he doesn't try to replicate the shots-and-slash style he's found for The Blair Witch Project, but it's about two people who head out on an ill-fated trek into the woods. In this photo, mysterious footage leads them to believe that this land is inhabited by a hidden dog-like animal. Chupacabra!

It takes a long time for the horror to kick in, and during that time we hang out with these two guys as they bounce comical dialogue off each other. So it's easy to see why clerks Writer/Director Kevin Smith He gets a special thank you at the end credits. (Makers The Blair Witch Project, on the other hand, is not recognized). Once characters venture into horror territory, they may begin to suspect it clerks It's not the only reason Stifter gave the nod to Smith. There's another Smith-esque thing here. Something reminiscent of one of his more divisive films.

The black and white image also allows Stifter to emulate the look of classic horror movies at times, which is a fun and playful approach.

The plot of Greywood's Friday Fright Nights

Tougher steering Graywood plot From a script he wrote with Daniel Dignan. The story they penned contains the following synopsis:

After finding a tape of what appears to be a monster, two friends travel to the woods to uncover if the video is a hoax.

Stifter and Degnan also starred in the film alongside Kim Fagan, Samantha Kirchoff, Aaron McKenna, Keith Radichel, Max Stifter, and Nathan Strauss.

It took me a while to warm up to that Graywood plotThe movie didn't immediately draw me in, but once things got weird and horrible in the second half, I started to enjoy the ride that much more. By the time it was over, I was curious to see Stifter and Dignan's previous horror comedy, the 2018 film Good exorcist.
