Mel Brooks Finally Made 'History of the World, Part Two'


Mel Brooks1981 parody World History, Part One It ended with a satirical teaser for a sequel, which is supposed to continue the story with all of the new comic installments, including "Hitler On Ice," "A Viking Funeral," and "Jewish in Space."

Like everything else in a Mel Brooks movie, it wasn't to be taken seriously. But now, 40 years later, Hulu Actually World History, Part Two, as an eight-part series. Mel Brooks, now 96, stars in the series, and also serves as a writer and executive producer on the project. The cast is filled with huge modern comedy names. (One assumes they jumped at the chance to work with the man who made it Blazing saddlesAnd producersAnd Young Frankenstein.) are: Pamela Adlon, Tim Paltz, Zazie Beetz, Jillian Bell, Quinta Bronson, Dove Cameron, Darcy Cardin, Ronnie Cheng, Rob Corddry, Danny DeVito, David Duchovny, Hannah Inbinder, Jay Ellis, Josh Gad, Kimiko Glenn, Brandon Kyle Goodman, Jake Johnson, Richard Kind, Johnny Knoxville, Lauren Lapkus, Jennifer Lewis, Bobby Liu, Joe Lo Truglio, Jason Mantzoukas, Ken Marino, Jack McBrayer, Zane McClarnon, Charles Melton, Kumail Nanjiani, Brock O'Hearn, Andrew Rannells, Emily Ratajkowski Sam Richardson, Nick Robinson, Seth Rogen, Sarah Silverman, Timothy Simmons, JB Smoove, David Wein, Taika Waititi, Reggie Watts, and Tyler James Williams.

Here's the teaser for the show, which looks very much like it's in the Mel Brooks tradition of wild parody:

This is Brooks' first TV show since 2008 and it didn't last long space balls animated series. Brooks has not directed a film since 1995 Dracula: is dead and you love him. (He spent many of the intervening years working on musical versions of the producers And Young Frankenstein.) So it's great to see Mel looking so good at 96, and still having fun.

After waiting for more than 40 years, there is finally a sequel to Mel Brooks' film, A History of the World, Part 1, with each episode featuring a variety of sketches that take us through different periods of human history.

World History, Part Two Premieres with two episodes on Hulu on March 6. Two more episodes follow each day until the end on March 9th.
