YETI has a solid reputation for making some of the best performing and most durable gear on the planet. So when given the chance to test YETI Trailhead® Camp Chairthe sturdy and collapsible camp chair, I jumped at the chance.
Before field testing the YETI Trailhead® Camp Chair, I spent a week lounging in it in my living room. I wanted to get a good number of hours to sit in it before writing this review. So while lounging at home in the YETI chair, I watched a couple of movies, ate several meals, and read on my Kindle to see how my back and body felt.
When I first unboxed the chair, I wondered what made the YETI Trailhead® Camp Chair so special, but after finding myself choosing a camp chair over a couch, I realized this was no ordinary camp chair.
The YETI Trailhead® Camp Chair offers superior comfort and support, ultimate durability, and a number of features that truly set it apart from the competition. In this YETI Trailhead® Camp Chair review, I'll share why I think this camp chair is worth the space and what kind of camper it's for.

YETI Trailhead® camp chair setup
The YETI Trailhead® Camp Chair is incredibly easy to set up. Being a folding accordion style, there are no poles or extra parts to deal with. You simply pull the four corners apart and firmly press the arms down until they click. Then on the back of the chair, there is a knob that you push down on that keeps the chair fabric taut. It takes less than 20 seconds, and the same goes for putting it away.
While it takes a few seconds longer than generic folding camp chairs, the extra steps to lock it in place contribute to its durability.

FlexGrid™ fabric
The FlexGrid™ fabric on the YETI Trailhead® Camp Chair is a stretch Mesh weave conforms to your body, which has some advantages. Although I only tested it in cooler fall weather, on a hot summer day the YETI FlexGrid™ fabric should be breathable so your back doesn't sweat as much.
Second, if you accidentally leave this chair outside in the rain, water will run right through and won't pool in the seat. This also means The chair dries very quicklywhich saves you from soaking wet ass.
One thing to note is that the fabric is free of fire retardants, which are known to be toxic chemicals, so you need to be careful if there are a lot of embers going around the campfire. Burning a hole in that camp chair can be a major concern.

Support and comfort
The YETI Trailhead® Camp Chair is Comfortable as it gets when it comes to camping chairs. Folding accordion-style camp chairs usually force your back to bend in unnatural ways, making them somewhat uncomfortable after a short period of time. When you sit on this chair, My position is upright but comfortable and the fabric conforms to my body so it's supported in all the right places. There is no hunching and rounding in my back or weird pressure points that have left my back and thighs aching with other chairs.

The YETI FlexGrid™ fabric is fully stretchy, which further contributes to the chair's wide support. At the same time, the fabric has just enough of that if you want to adjust your angle or position in the chair, the fabric molds to your body.
If you are one of those people who hate low chairs to the ground, you will really love how easy it is to stand up out of this chair. It's about the height of a regular chair, so it's no more difficult than standing up from a dining chair. The armrests are so sturdy that you can put all your weight on them when getting in and out. I tested this chair during my second trimester, and this is a feature I really appreciated because standing takes a little more effort than usual these days.

The seat height is also perfect for dinner at the camp table or eating off your lap since your thighs are essentially flat when you sit on it, making it easier to balance your plate. The added advantage of placing your legs at a 90-degree angle is that your hip flexors are able to stay in a relaxed position, too.
The armrests are very sturdy and tall enough to rest on when relaxing or reading a book. on one of the armrests, There is a cup holder that can be moved from one side to the other Depending on your dominant hand.
I will share that one of the biggest complaints about this chair is that an extra cup holder would come in handy for holding other essentials like your phone or keys. But prior to the YETI chair, I mainly used the Helinox Sunset chair which had no built-in cup holder at all, so even a single cup holder is an upgrade for me.

durability
The YETI Trailhead® Camp Chair has a coil 500 pound capacity Thanks to its locked steel frame. This means that you can land in it at full power, no matter your weight. You can sit on someone's lap, have your dog or child in the chair with you, and the campfire certainly won't be blown away by the wind. My partner Ryan and I sat in this chair together (our combined current weight is 340 lbs.) and showed no signs of straining. It is very sturdy and you can lean it every way without worrying about it falling off.
The steel frame is also powder coated, so it can withstand ups and downs.

packing and size
This is not a very lightweight camping chair. This chair Designed for comfortable car camping where you likely never walk more than a few hundred feet from your vehicle. At 13.3 pounds, it's much larger than some of the previous camp chairs I've owned, which tend to be more lightweight and portable.
With that said, the YETI Trailhead® Camp Chair It comes with a sturdy, two-strap, ample-space carrying bag that makes storing the chair quick and easy. You don't have to wrestle to get the chair in the bag. The bag also has padded, adjustable backpack straps that allow you to carry the chair a reasonable distance if you want to head to a nearby viewpoint for your morning coffee or kid's soccer game, or go down to the river near your campsite for a read.

Final thoughts
If you're looking for a camping chair that offers next-level comfort and don't mind the size and weight, the YETI Trailhead® Camp Chair is an excellent choice. It comes at a hefty price tag, but if you plan to sit in it regularly and are on a budget, it's worth it to avoid the back pain that many other camp chairs cause.
It's also a chair that should last a very long time. YETI designed this chair to be bulletproof, and I have no doubt this chair will get years of use in my family.
