With Thanksgiving over and the weekend upon us, we're getting a better picture of the numbers for this long weekend. as expected, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever It comes in first with an estimated five-day take of $55 to $60 million with $8.1 million taking in Thanksgiving Day. That's good news for the movie because it's close to a $600 million worldwide gross and is close to breaking even with a whopping $250 million budget. Check out our 10/10 review over here.
However, this isn't all good news for Disney as its grand entry into holiday animation strange world It looks like a big bomb. With a budget of $180 million, the movie needed to get off to a much better $20 million start with a $2.5 million Thanksgiving run. As I said in my expectationsHowever, the trailers for this show don't seem like something worth rushing to see. I also think that Disney may regret its decision to release the movies directly on the Disney+ service since it seems that people have decided to wait to watch movies together in their homes instead of spending $100 for a few hours in the theater. between this and Light year Underperforming, Disney may need to rethink a few things. Another studio that may want to rethink how they release their movies is Netflix, where they have their first-ever box office success. Glass Onion: Takes the mystery out of the cutlery. The limited release is running on less than 700 screens, but is seeing strong numbers with an estimated 5 day take in about $13 million with $1.8 of that coming around Thanksgiving. Imagine how massive this one would be if it were released in its entirety in a wide theatrical release? Other new/expanded releases seem to be in line with our expectations loyalty Seeing 5 days takes about $10 million ($1.2 million on Thanksgiving) during Bones and everything Looking for $3.2 for a total of 5 days ($436,000 on Thanksgiving) Steven Spielberg is looking at The second weakest performer Straight Fablemans He looks at $3 million for just 5 days ($480,000 on Thanksgiving). These films will be looking forward to award season competitions to keep them afloat for the next few months.
