And to celebrate the holidays, we decided to test out what are arguably the most beloved Holiday cookies Around. Time to find out once and for all: What's the best Snickerdoodle cake recipe?

Unlike a chocolate chip cookie where everyone has their own preferences when it comes to textures, flavors, and techniques, the snickerdoodle has a few key aspects that make it a snickerdoodle.

7. Martha Stewart: Snickerdoodles recipe

While we had high hopes for these cookies, they came in on the lower end of our synthetic hopes. These cookies were on the firmer, drier side of all the snickerdoodles we tested and didn't have much of a cinnamon flavor. There was also a discussion about if we missed something in the recipe, as it felt more like a cinnamon sugar cookie to us. (Call user error if you disagree!)

6. The Hummingbird Is Soaring: Snickerdoodle recipe without cream of tartar

We lovingly call these cookies "Chunky Monkeys". And if you've given us these cookies on any other day and they're never eaten again with a batch of snickerdoodle cookies, I'll tell you this was an absolutely excellent cookie. Overall, we all loved this cookie, but when compared to the texture and flavor of other cookies, we didn't think it was the tastiest of cookies.

Although the texture is good for a sugar cookie, it was a bit dense while also being very chewy. Also the flavor didn't have the same flavor because as the recipe said you don't use cream of tartar. Instead, it's replaced with a healthy dose of baking powder. Again, we really liked this cookie and are saving this recipe for pinch nights when you can't find any cream of tartar in the pantry.

5. Smitten Kitchen: Snickerdoodles

We love Smitten Kitchen recipes, so it was a must to have these Snickerdoodles on the run. These muffins had a rich buttery flavor, a bit of tang, and just a touch of cinnamon spice. But as for texture, they came out a bit flatter than other cookies, so we spiked them with a bit of the melt-in-your-mouth factor that some other recipes had. However, if you like very fluffy and chewy cookies, add them to your must-bake bread list.

4. Rick Martinez: Best Snickerdoodles on The Bachelor

This was one of two recipes using melted butter in the biscuits instead of softened, in addition to brown sugar. These also have the added step of letting the dough rest for 30 minutes to moisten.

A couple of ideas. We did not feel like resting the dough, which makes it easier to work with, as the dough remained soft and difficult to work with after resting. But that aside, this was a very chewy and buttery cookie, and was the tastiest treat of the bunch. We loved this cookie a lot, but some of the steps make it a little tricky to pop out cookies on a whim if that's what you prefer.

3. Ray Drummond: Snickerdoodles

If you're looking for a cookie that's reminiscent of the giant fluffy pillow cookies at the grocery store, these are the treats of your dreams. On the larger side, these cookies have a melt-in-your-mouth interior with just a little crunch on the edges. Our only complaint is that we wanted a little more cinnamon flavor, but the signature Snickerdoodle flavor was perfect. I will do this again.

2 - Jesse Sheehan: Snickerdoodles saga

There was a thin fringe between the top two of our cookies, so I know they're a great example of a snickerdoodle. Jessie's recipe from her book Snackable Bakes uses part shortening and part butter, which makes them very tender. The middles are puffy, fluffy, and soft, while the edges get a nice chew and very crisp. Surprisingly, this is the only recipe to use cinnamon in the dough itself. This led to many tasters deeming the flavor more cinnamony. With buttery-sweet perfection, we'll make these cookies on repeat.

1. Broma Bakery: Soft doodles sneakers

And our winner for Best Snickerdoodle Biscuit Recipe is none other than… Bromma Bakery! I'll admit I was skeptical because this recipe uses a completely different ingredient that I was quoted saying "it wouldn't make a difference at all." I'll admit my mistake, but the tablespoon of Greek yogurt added in these cookies made what taste testers called the moistest cookie of the bunch. These were fluffy and airy in texture, buttery and cinnamony, with those nice crunchy, chewy edges, all about goodness. That's right - these have it all.
